Banpu Power Public Company Limited (BPP) has announced a $90 million investment in the 'Megamouth' battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Houston, Texas, its first BESS venture in the U.S. This 100 MW/200 MWh project, developed through its subsidiary BPPUS, is expected to begin commercial operations in Q4 2027 and will connect to CenterPoint Energy's grid.
This strategic move strengthens BPP's U.S. electricity value chain, enhancing its competitiveness in a rapidly transitioning energy market and capitalizing on the growing demand and price volatility within the ERCOT merchant market.
