EGAT is operating its Mae Moh power plant at full 1,200 MW capacity to manage energy costs and reduce reliance on expensive imported LNG. This aligns with the Ministry of Energy's policy to ensure national energy security amidst rising global gas prices.
Despite a landslide at the Mae Moh mine in November 2025, EGAT is using coal reserves and truck transport to maintain full power plant operations. Partial mine functionality is expected by July 2026, with full recovery by November 2026.
